In 2026, S&L Group delivered two industrial horizontal ribbon blenders (1,500L and 8,500L respectively) to a prestigious Japanese flavor & fragrance company. These custom-engineered blenders are now operating in the client’s production line, primarily used for mixing and blending of premium food seasonings and industrial fragrance.
In the food ingredient and seasoning industry, cross-contamination prevention and maintaining strict hygiene are critical. To meet Japan’s stringent quality-control standards, S&L engineered these ribbon blenders tin accordance with global sanitary standards for food processing:
- Full Stainless-Steel Construction: Excellent resistance to corrosion and chemical reactions.
- High-Quality Surface Finish: Internal vessel and agitator surfaces are mirror-polished to Ra ≤ 0.6 μm to prevent powder adhesion.
- Seamless Welding: Internal joints are fully welded, smoothly finished, and rounded with explicit R-angles, completely eliminating crevices or pits.
- Dead-Zone-Free Design: Optimized discharging and sealing components ensuring no material accumulation or blind spots.
- FDA-Compliant Seals: All non-metallic sealing materials carry official FDA certification, ensuring safe food contact.
The S&L horizontal ribbon blender consists of a U-shaped trough, a drive transmission mechanism, and a uniquely engineered double-ribbon agitator shaft.
- The outer ribbon moves the ingredients from both ends toward the center of the vessel.
- The inner ribbon moves the material from the center outward to the ends.
These opposing flows create continuous multidirectional movement, producing a highly uniform blend within a short cycle. The gentle mixing action also increase uniformity with minimum heat buildup, helping preserve the particle structure, aroma, and functional properties of sensitive materials such as flavor powders, flour, and milk powder
For applications involving frequent product changeovers or strict allergen-control requirements, S&L offers an optional cantilevered pull-out rotor design. The entire ribbon agitator shaft can be fully withdrawn from the mixing chamber, providing unobstructed 360° access for thorough cleaning, inspection, and cleaning validation.
