As global demand for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials continues to rise rapidly, manufacturers are under increasing pressure to expand production capacity while maintaining consistent electrochemical performance across every batch.
To support this large-scale production requirement, Shuanglong Group recently delivered customized 30 m³ and 40 m³ horizontal ribbon mixers for a leading LFP cathode material manufacturer. Designed for high-volume battery powder processing, the mixers support large-scale production, consistent mixing uniformity, and material purity within an automated manufacturing environment.
- In LFP cathode material production, the mixing process plays a critical role in determining the quality consistency of the final LFP material.
- Standard mixing equipment is often unable to meet the large batch volumes and special handling requirements of battery-grade powders.
- In lithium-ion battery production, even trace magnetic foreign objects or magnetic impurities caused by equipment wear may compromise material purity and increase potential battery safety risks.
- In the fast-moving new energy industry, equipment delivery time directly affects project schedules, production ramp-up, and time to market.
Shuanglong’s horizontal ribbon mixer uses a precisely engineered double-ribbon agitator to create strong counter-current mixing inside the chamber. This mixing action helps distribute lithium salts, iron sources, carbon materials, and other powder components evenly throughout the batch.
By reducing material segregation and improving both macro- and micro-level uniformity, the mixer supports consistent LFP powder quality, which is essential for stable specific capacity and cycle-life performance in downstream battery applications.
Each 30 m³ and 40 m³ mixer was engineered as a customized project to seamlessly integrate with the customer’s automated production line and process layout.
Top-Cover Nozzles Configuration: The top-cover nozzle configuration was customized in terms of position and size to support dust-tight pneumatic conveying, exhaust, and dust collection within a closed production system.
Heavy-Duty Drive System: LFP precursor materials can have relatively high bulk density. To address this, Shuanglong calculated the required torque and configured heavy-duty gear reducers with efficient motors. This drive design supports stable start-up under full-load conditions and continuous high-torque operation during large-batch mixing.
To safeguard LFP material purity, Shuanglong provides advanced internal lining solutions tailored for abrasive materials.
PTFE (Teflon) Lining: PTFE sheet lining can be applied to the inner chamber wall and agitator contact surfaces, creating a low-friction, non-metallic interface that helps reduce the risk of metal particle shedding during mixing.
Nano-Ceramic Coating: For applications requiring higher wear resistance, nano-ceramic composite coatings provide a hard and continuous protective layer. This helps extend equipment service life while reducing the risk of metallic cross-contamination in the material stream.
Although the large-scale mixers (30 m³ and 40 m³) and required a high level of customization, Shuanglong maintained an efficient delivery schedule through coordinated supply chain management and strong in-house manufacturing capabilities. This helped shorten the equipment production cycle and supported the customer’s production expansion plan.
The successful delivery and application of Shuanglong Group’s customized 30 m³ and 40 m³ horizontal ribbon mixers demonstrate the company’s capability in large-scale battery powder mixing equipment.
By combining reliable mixing performance, customized mechanical design, contamination-control linings, and efficient delivery, Shuanglong provides dependable equipment support for high-capacity LFP cathode material production.
